First pictures have been released from the upcoming movie Death Race starring Jason Statham. SlashFilm.com has some of production stills. The film is a remake of the 1975 film Death Race 2000. The story takes place in a future America, where prison inmates are forced to compete against each other in a driving arena. A prison warden (Joan Allen) forces Ex-con Jensen Ames (Statham)who has only a few weeks before his release into becoming a driver. The prisoner becomes a crowd favorite known as Frankenstein. The film is going to be released on August 22.
