The world premiere of the fantasy film Goldem Compass was on November 27th. Co-stars Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman were at the red-carpet opening of the movie, adapted from the bestselling Philip Pullman book Northern Lights. Kidman plays villain Mrs Coulter while Craig is adventurer Lord Asriel.
Kidman: "It's rare that I bring such a dramatic, dark character to the screen. This was a great opportunity."
Craig: "The Philip Pullman books are beautifully written. He is one of the best writers in this part of the century and most of the last. They are incredible books and I couldn't wait to get involved."
Stars Eva Green, Sam Elliot & the newcomer Dakota Blue Richards (who beat 10,000 girls to play heroine Lyra Belacqua) were also in the film's premiere.
The Golden Compass is released on December 5 in the UK
